The government shutdown now tied for the record longest in U.S. history, and if you hadn’t personally noticed, one could be forgiven.
But for those who believe that the federal government must be re-opened (I am personally fine with it staying closed permanently, except to fund “essential” services like the military), then there has been an unusual “breakthrough” of sorts.
The Republicans have now leaked the details of a private meeting with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, as well as an “end around” plan to stop the shutdown — with or without Schumer’s help.
