BREAKING: Supreme Court Rejects Bid to Put Voter ID, Citizenship Measure on Swing State Ballot

Federal law already prohibits noncitizens from voting in federal elections and the proposition would have ensured the state enforces the law.

The Supreme Court has dealt a last-minute blow to a proposed constitutional amendment requiring voter ID and proof of U.S. citizenship — despite supporters submitting more than 700,000 petition signatures.

Justice Brett Kavanaugh rejected an emergency request to put the measure before voters in November without explanation.
